About a week ago, I was watching "Marley and Me" in Star Movies. One of my weaknesses is watching those kind of films that would make me cry over and over again.. Movies that involve a tragic ending, not being together, or death of one of the main cast. While I was watching "Marley an Me", I was thinking.. "This is probably how my dog will die.. not exactly because of twisted stomach but old age."
Lucky. Most of my friends knows who's Lucky. She has been a family dog for 13 years. What I mean with "family" dog, she's literally the whole clan's pet. She was really my little cousin's pet.. they bought her at the Pet Shop around year 1997. No one was able to take care of her because of some personal reasons that why she was sent to Batangas for a couple of years. There, Me and my cousins will play with her no matter how smelly and dirty she was. My lolo was the one who feeds her and all. Time comes that we decided to take her back here in Paranaque to stay with us. She probably witnessed everything happened to our family. When Mikha was born, when my sisters decided to leave the country, my parents' fights, my cousins and tita's visit in Philippines, my elementary, highschool, and college graduation.
Few days ago, just when I get back from my review classes.. Mama told me that Lucky was really weak. My parents gave her the right usual medications, vitamins, and milk. From that, I remembered the story of "Marley and Me" and told Mama. I know that she's not going to be with us any longer. So as day passes by she became weaker and weaker to the point she can no longer stand or even urinate in the garden. And then she died today (June 25 '10 at 4:30pm). :'(
Lucky has been a big part of the family. We all took care of her for more or less 13 years. 13 HUMAN years. But as I blog the feeling gets little lighter and lighter. Why? Because all memories shared with her was a happy memories. She didn't die because of some serious ill but mainly because of old age. I dont think most of the dogs survive till age 13. God has given us some "bonus" years to spend time with Lucky.
I remember my professor told me before, pets do not have souls they just use their instincts. therefore, they dont go to heaven. I disagree. with Lucky, she has emotions, feelings, understands. Im happy she's in heaven now. She's more than being a dog.. but a family member. *sniff* :'(
I watched Owl City's concert last Sunday night with Tere and Gerard and we definitely had a blast! So before all my crazy fan girl sentences, I must start my story/review from the beginning.
So we are seated at the VIP ticket holders at Owl City's concert around 6:30pm.
Krissy and Erika were the front act. Reminded me so much of the duo M2M before. Performed Bad Romance, Up Up Down Down, another original song, and Runaway. After their set we waited for about 1 hour or less cus Adam Young's band was still preparing the stage.
Crowd went CRAZY when instruments were heard. Instruments. HAHA. So crowd went WILD when Adam Young started playing and singing. We were singing out loud that I think the people around us thinks we are three weirdos because we know all the songs from beginning to end. Also, we are waving and clapping our hands most of the time. I feel bad for the people behind us. Probably recorded our singing and our hands. Haha! Owl City performed Umbrella Beach first, then followed by The Bird and The Worm, The Tip of the Iceberg, On the Wing, Air Traffic, Fireflies, The technicolor Phase, The Saltwater Room, Dental Care, Hot Air Balloon (my first time to hear the song. and I love it!), Cave In, and Vanilla Twilight as the encore song. As they leave the stage after their great setlist.. People were screaming "WE WANT MORE!" until they go back to the stage and performed one last song called "Hello Seattle".
And as expected, I was thinking about Lights while in the concert. That'd be a "two birds in one shot". But I just wore my Lights shirt instead. :)
I was just very disappointed with the distance of every ticket range. I was expecting that we are so close to the stage since we bought the VIPs worth less 4,000 pesos. But what happened was, in the covered part, it was just the VVIPs and we were super far from the stage. Like maybe for some people, its better to watch on the LCD.
Over all, it was definitely a great night! It was my first time to attend an electro pop concert. I also realized that I never watched any of his concert footages on YouTube. So everything I witnessed made me feel awe. This concert made me admire Adam Young so much more that everytime he moves to the beat, it was as if an air or soul of music comes out from his body. It was an unexplainable energy really. The way he raises his hands, way he walks around the stage, the way he plays the instruments, the way he holds the microphone. So much passion and soul! Slightly distracting lang the bigote. Hehehe :)
Its been a while since the last time I updated my blogspot but I guess now I'm so back to work. Haha
So a lot of friends has been asking "Why the hell did you meet Tim Yap?" So once and for all, I will be blogging about this lunch meeting with Tim Yap.
Tim Yap is having a contest on his Twitter called Yap4Grabs. The moment I started following him, he was giving away free Nokia phones. It wasn't really my goal to win a cellphone cus i dont really text or call but it was just fun to answer his questions on his Twitter.
Last February 06, the month of Love. Tim Yap asked for a love letter and to my surprise, I was one of the three winners for that question out of thousands tweets. My winning love letter was :
LOL! Cheesy I know I know.. So after a month, March 09, I was invited for a lunch date with Nokia people, Tim Yap, and other winners as well. At 11am I was there already and I must say, first few minutes was really awkward because Im but bunch of people that I have never met before. So the lunch went well, had talks with my co-winners for Yap4Grabs, and also had a little program by Tim Yap. I was shaking while on the mini stage because I forgot my winning tweet to him. LOL! Seriously, because it was a direct type. So yeah, after that, we received our Nokia 5230. Like what I mentioned on my Twitter, the lunch meeting was full of inspirational talks, laughs, and cheesiness. Now my co-winners are my twitter friends too. Thank you Tim Yap and Nokia for the phone!
I must say, Tim Yap was right, even if you're a stranger to someone, it doesn't mean you stop to inspire people. So with that said, Lets inspire one another! :)
"All i ever wanted was just a signed CD and watch her perform live, but it was more than that. much much more.."
Writing a blog about this, is kinda hard for me to sum up all the experiences i had for this week. It was like literally living in a dream. Dont have plans about blogging but i think some people are actually interested on what and how i feel. So lets start this craziness. haha
Okay, First off, was at The Podium.. I dont care if i went there alone. It was a great pick on not bring anyone because i met A LOT of new friends who share the same interest as i do with this singer-songwriter. I was just seated there.. waiting for Marié Digby.. nervous. Seriously, i was starstruck when i saw her. I cant believe she's really here, in my country, doing promo's for her Concert at NBC Tent. Had a Meet and Greet / CD signing session. All the things im going to say is already planned (i even brought my lil notepad so i wont forget anything). The very first written there was how to pronounce my name.. As soon as i got to the stage, surprisingly she said "oooh.. you... ayes?! i thought you wouldn't make it!" yeah, i know. cant believe she remembers me from myspace. lol take note, she got the right pronunciation of my name! haha. We hugged for more than 10 seconds and yeah talked about emails and meeting again. Soon as i got off the stage Ms. Choy from MCA Universal Music talked to me and asked for my contact number since Marié was asking for it. Also random thing happened my friend Jeff, i asked him to keep my CDs first because my bag was too small.. So yeah he placed the CDs inside a paper bag. and you know what? that paper bag was given to Marié Digby and my CDs are actually in there. We had late realizations that i just left my CDs with Marié.. LOL but it was awmazing. :)
Second, Saturday's event at NBC Tent. All i ever dreamed of was watching Marié Digby perform live with her own songs. THATS IT. Im not disappointed at all. I feel so grateful to be one of the people to hear new stuff LIVE! There were VIP tables in front which celebrities and high profile people are seated who's just there to get drunk. No wonder why Marié went off the stage and joins the crowd and held so many hands! And my niece was one of the lucky ones who held her hand. But of course bouncers came to control the crowd. lol We are seated 2nd row center right. its so surreal. While she was singing, i was thinking too that.. "this singer, songwriter, awmazing person, right there. few feet away from me, singing her heart out. when i used to watch her in youtube." After the 2 hour concert, it was the Autograph Session. Since i left my CDs with her, i have to buy another album so that Mikha will have the Meet & Greet passes. So we both meet Marié Digby at the concert. Whats more interesting happened is that the people i met at The Podium was there too and be able to recognized each other. We had a late dinner together and shared the joy we felt about the concert. lol im wearing Digbyholics shirt. Priceless. Marié Digby is EPIC. Cant even put it in right words..
Third and last, Shangrila Hotel. So, Saturday morning (before the concert) i was at school taking my exam for EDN class and noticed an unknown number calling me. i failed to answer the call. As soon as i finished the exam, i texted the number and the conversation goes like this:
ayes : who's this? unknown number: this is Choy from MCA, did you received my text yday? ayes : nope. my phone was turned off for the whole day. what is it about ma'am? unknown number: hi ayes! this is Choy from MCA music.. lunch with Marié on Sunday 1pm at EDSA Shangrila Hotel. You and Jeff can bring one person each :) see you there!
i was stunned! i never thought they were serious about texting me. haha So the next day (which is today!) Ms. Choy and i were texting for updates and yes, I met Marié Digby for the third time. We had an awesome lunch with her and talked about a lot of stuff. My friends are not saying anything so i just kept on talking and talking! I almost run out of english!! Nosebleed. haha I was seated next to Marié Digby then Jeff, Jaymie and Roxy was seated in front of us. We talked about a bunch of stuff! not going to details but a lot! I was surpised that Marié brought her camera out of her bag and took a picture of Jeff and Jaymie together, Roxy solo. and since im seated next to her she took a our picture together :) I also bought her Lengua De Gato and Dried Mangoes. with her is Ms. Choy and Sir Roland from MCA Universal Music, A guy from Hollywood Records, and her two bandmates. But we kind of have our own little world there talking with each other. We had a 2 hour exclusive late lunch with her. Its UNREAL. I tweeted her before that my personal request is Unfold. There's just too much of that song. I bet only Marié knows how much tears i've lost because of that song. She said to me the sweetest thing ever.. "ayes, i was thinking about you while playing Unfold." (teary eyed now) Oh and she returned my CDs left in the paper bag. haha i also let her sign my Unfold and Second Home albums.
I've got so many things that i really wanted to say about this experience, but really its hard. haha so hard to put the joy in words. On my way home, i know it sounds cheesy but i totally cried. All i ever wanted was just a signed CD and watch her perform live, but it was more than that. much much more.. i never thought she was this serious about hanging out with her.
Thank you soooo much Marié Digby. You're so different from other singer/songwriters. No wonder why i supported your music this much. Im your fan obviously and most definitely a friend. i had the longest, rock-est, awmazing-est week ever. Yep folks, you just witnessed a dream that actually came true. :)
and how can i ever forget this, thanks to my sisters who's been uber supportive. after all, without them, no blog about this experience. im really lucky to have em. you know, we live in a different countries (literally) but it feels like they are just here with me. never get tired re-telling the story over and over again. love them. :)
